Lunch at "Car-Ming's"

It's a rainy day and we decided to go for a walk and also let my son Ardie to play "rain puddle splash" on the way . He's so excited every time & having a goodtime. We drop by at the nearby book warehouse and browsed at some books. We ended up scoring books for my son & myself ;-)
On the way home Ardie insisted of having lunch in a restaurant and that's how we ended having lunch at "Car-Mings" ( Carmen and Ming are the restaurant proprietor's and chef's names) a.k.a. "New Hong Kong Kitchen " It's our favorite Chinese restaurant ever!! The food is delicious, affordable, and very courteous & friendly service. Not to mention it's just in the neighborhood ;-)

I'm Hungry Dad!!

Satisfied customers :-)

My favorite "Dry Garlic Spareribs" It's the Best!!!

B-fast with Bukchoi

I woke up this morning craving for something i have'nt had for a long time, a filipino "agahan" or "umagahan" (early morning b-fast). So, i requested Andie, if we can have one today, she came up with "Longganisa " ( a native filipino b-fast sausage or chorizo)scrambled eggs with tomatoes,my favorite garlic fried rice, and a dried fish called espada (we got this from my sister-in-law as pasalubong from the philippines) these delicacies are among the most loved traditional Filipino breakfast items. Depending on which province or region the longganisa originates, it can be sweet , spicy, garlicky , colored or uncolored.

Longganisa for breakfast is so popularly Pinoy that it is actually served at the humblest turo-turo & carinderia and deluxe hotels (it reminds me of the time when i'm still working at the Shangri-la Edsa Manila,we used to have this on the menu, called the "longsilog" together with other popular b-fast items such as tapa, a marinated thin sliced of beef and tocino,a sweet cured pork )

My son , Ardie is the only one who ate his usual bowl of cheerios and zippy cup of milk :-)

Cheer's Bukchoi !!! Daddy's happy again ;-)

family day off

Friday ,my extra day-off turned out actually great, Andie,my wife was able to go to her dentist appointment .Me and Ardie (my son) ,tagged along so that afterwards,we can have a family day .

We decided to get a take-out lunch from "Pin-Pin", a restaurant featuring filipino-chinese cuisine. It's not so long ago since we got introduced to this restaurant but since then ,everytime we go to our dentist, we always want to eat there or have a take-out to enjoy.

This place takes me back from my childhood, my old-time Filipino favorites like sizzling sisig , inihaw na liempo, lechon kawali, bicol express, embotido, pinoy pork bb-q , kare-kare and more... the delicious appetizers like lumpia sariwa , calamares, lumpia shanghai, tokwa't baboy & kilawing tanique to soups like sinigang, molo, sotanghon, papaitan ,hototai & lapaz batchoy. All of them prepared very tastefully and skillfully.

This time we decided on the tokwa't baboy, a pork and fried tofu in spicy soya-vinegar sauce.

The Kare-kare, oxtail and beef tripe with vegetables in peanut sauce.

And of course ,one of my all-time favorites, Crispy Pata , deep-fried pork hock ;-)

We went to get some grocery shortafter and then a quick stop at the public library and home sweet home , to enjoy our delicious food :-)
